The Miracle of Microneedling – Your Skin Rejuvenated

Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy, promises more youthful skin – and it delivers. This in-office treatment diminishes wrinkles, brightens and evens skin tone, and reduces scars, stretch marks and pores. Simply put: it works.

The magic of microneedling: your bodies’ healing mechanisms at work.

Like many ground-breaking aesthetic procedures, the success of microneedling hinges on using the body’s natural healing processes to boost collagen and improve the appearance of everything from acne scars to fine lines and wrinkles.

Here’s the part where many people cringe a little: microneedling involves needles. Tiny needles puncture through the top layer of the skin, just beneath its surface into the dermis. These tiny, invisible wounds stimulate the bodies’ natural healing mechanisms. Basically, microneedling tricks your body into increasing collagen and elastin at the wound site, repairing the skin and filling in fine lines, hence the other common name “Collagen Induction Therapy.”

At Snake River MediSpa we are pleased to use the Rejuvapen – the highest-rated microneedling tool on the market. Your technician will gently roll the device over the area of skin being treated – the Rejuvapen does the rest.

The needles vary in length depending on the treatment area. Your technician will customize the Rejuvapen throughout the procedure to ensure optimal results. This is one downside of at-home procedures. Microneedling at home does not enable you to adjust the depth of the needles. In addition, maintaining smooth, even pressure remains difficult on your own skin. Even worse, at-home treatments may be more prone to scarring or an infection.

Microneedling’s Magic: Skin Repair

We love the many benefits that Microneedling offers. This budget-friendly treatment may be performed without a lengthy appointment and has little downtime. Even better? It’s not exclusive to facial treatments. Men and women experience immediate results from microneedling treatments performed on any area where skin needs repair.

Common areas treated with microneedling:

  • Legs

  • Chest

  • Back

  • Abdomen

  • Neck

  • Hands

  • Face

  • Arms

Skin imperfections treated with microneedling include:

  • Scars, acne, chicken pox, etc.

  • Large pores

  • Wrinkles

  • Skin discoloration/age spots

  • Sun damage

  • Stretch marks

  • Cellulite

  • birthmarks

Plus, it tightens loose skin. A 2015 study in the International Journal of Dermatology confirms that microneedling achieves "skin rejuvenation, tightening, and scar remodeling," and that it offers a "simple and effective treatment for photo-aged skin." A 2009 study shows that nearly 100 percent of acne-scarred patients reported a marked improvement in the visibility of their acne scars.

What to expect at your appointment.

After completing your initial paperwork, a technician will consult with you to determine your skin condition and goals for improvement. A topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area. Then, a technician will use the Rejuvapen to carefully roll over the treatment area, this process takes about 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.

What does it really feel like? Microneedling feels like a small scratch. A recent client described it this way, “Initially I was worried about the pain but I can honestly say the majority of my face and neck was nearly pain-free. A few areas where the skin is thinner were definitely more sensitive, but manageable.”

One reason microneedling works so well in skin rejuvenation is it increases the absorption of skin care products. Studies confirm topical serums penetrate the skin more efficiently, meaning you enjoy the full benefits of the products you use.

Therefore, immediately following treatment, your technician will apply a healing serum. Microneedling pairs beautifully with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy—the widely popular Vampire Facial™ (our team is certified in all Vampire procedures and can answer any questions you may have regarding these cutting-edge therapies) or with Human Growth/peptide serum.

Microneedling after care and post treatment.

Your skin will feel similar to a sunburn. We will send home an after-care kit that includes a soothing skin cream, a gentle non-abrasive cleanser, and sunscreen. We can also recommend a good skin care regimen to help your skin maintain its new healthy glow.

You may take Tylenol, but avoid anti-inflammatory over-the-counter pain medications such as Aleve™ or Advil™ as they inhibit the bodies’ healing efforts. Use cool water and/or ice to relieve pain; drink plenty of water.

Within a few days, your skin will be completely healed. We recommend not wearing make-up for 24 – 48 hours, if possible. When returning to your make up routine, use mineral make-up and clean brushes. While skin heals quickly from the microneedling procedure, natural collagen growth happens over a few weeks, expect to see results over the next two months. It’s important to avoid sun exposure during this healing time and to use a good sunscreen after all of your procedures at our MediSpa to maintain the benefits.

Microneedling results – a new look you will love.

As it triggers the generation of new skin cells, just a few sessions of microneedling will noticeably reduce fine lines, crow's feet, and deep wrinkles on the forehead.

Depending on the skin areas treated and what you’re trying to achieve, we recommend three to six treatments for optimal results.

Space treatments about a month apart to enable skin healing. (We offer discounts on treatment packages; please speak with your technician for more information).

Once your skin has reached its optimal health; you may want to do a follow-up treatment two or three times a year – or whenever your skin needs a little boost.

Microneedling works magic for skin rejuvenation. We are thrilled to offer our patients the best technology on the market – the Rejuvapen – for this therapy. Call us for a free consultation today!
