Snuggling on the bleachers at high school football games, comfy sweaters, killer boots: all great parts of autumn. Dry, sensitive skin, the lines at Starbucks for pumpkin spice, leftover sun damage, enlarged pores: not something we look forward to when we imagine fall. The good thing is, we can change-up our skin care routines (sorry, can't fix the pumpkin spice addictions).
With cool, crisp autumn air, comes dry skin. Fall is a great time to add additional moisture to your skin care regimen. If you're not a regular user of moisturizer, fall is a great time to start. You just might become as addicted to the extra skin softness as all those people waiting at Starbucks are to pumpkin spice.
Autumn is also time to ditch the harsh cleansers and switch to a gentler one that adds a little hydration. That biting fall breeze makes for extra sensitive skin, so don't skimp on nourishment to help it stay happy and healthy. Also, don't forget to hydrate from the inside. We may not have to worry about losing water through perspiration in cooler temps, but we still need at least 8 glasses every day to keep our bodies (and skin) in tip-top shape.
Colder weather is a welcome change for many of us, but cool days doesn't mean it's time to skip the sunscreen. Even though there's a nip in the air, the UV index can still be high. Always apply moisturizer with sunscreen (at least SPF 15) in the morning, and bump it up to SPF 50 when doing outdoor activities.
Summer may be gone, but the wrath of summer is still present...all over our faces. Fall is a fabulous time to address sun spots, enlarged pores, melasma, hyperpigmentation, freckles, and all the collagen damage powerful UVA rays have caused over the summer. At Snake River Aesthetics & MediSpa, we offer lots of ways to address these concerns, including the favorite of Hollywood celebrities, Vampire Facelifts and Vampire Facials. We also are proud to provide Vi Peels, which can help several of these skin issues with a single treatment. In addition, microneedling is a wonderful way to revive lost collagen (enlarged pores, scarring, melasma, hyperpigmentation) over the longer term.
Bottom-line: taking time in this slower season to take care of your skin will help you reap huge rewards in healthier, glowing skin through the coming winter. However you choose to start your autumn skin care routine, we can help get you off to a great start. Give us a call or book your appointment online today!
